I am working with Professor Josh Shaevitz and am in the 4th year of the physics PhD program. I am interested in understanding the behavior and social interactions of bumblebees, which offer an intriguing window into the principles of eusociality and collective behaviors. I use quantitative analyses to identify and describe behaviors. I hope to use variations in these quantitatively defined behaviors to understand the social development of bumblebees and the factors that determine which bees fulfill different roles within the colony.
