I am a 5th year graduate student working with Prof. Joshua Shaevitz in the Quantitative and Computational Biology PhD program. I am interested in understanding the collective behavior of cells that bring about large scale order within the system. I focus on bacteria, which have the ability to collective self-organize into biofilm structures. Applying methods common in soft matter and fluid mechanics allows us to find physical mechanisms for these emergent properties.
